Senior Data Engineer

Data Delivery Team is responsible for provisioning new data assets onto our Data Platform, which are then consumable for use in Reporting and Analytic software and tools.The teams focus on publishing re-usable, trusted and high-quality data assets to our data catalogue. As our organisation allocates more resources on data science (including AI and Machine Learning) – the demand on the data delivery teams is growing

• Develop and deliver data pipelines and transformations in line with existing design specifications and delivery standards.
• Build and maintain data products within Snowflake, using dbt and ADF to orchestrate and transform data.
• Implement robust testing and validation to ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy.
• Follow established development patterns and governance standards, ensuring alignment with Baillie Gifford’s data delivery framework.
• Manage deployment and documentation of developed components, ensuring solutions are well-structured and maintainable.
• Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during development and delivery cycles.

• Experience developing data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and dbt.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Snowflake (including performance optimisation and
• modelling concepts).
• Hands-on experience delivering data integrations, transformations, and loads within a
• governed enterprise environment.
• Experience working from detailed technical designs or specifications, delivering against
• defined requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and version control (e.g. Git).
• Experience working within a cloud data platform and modern delivery environment.
• Exposure to data validation frameworks or automated testing approaches.
