Senior Cloud Engineer (GCP)
Project - the aim you'll have
Join a cloud operations engagement. The project focuses on operating and optimizing a large-scale Google Cloud Platform environment.
Position - how you'll contribute
- Manage and support GCP infrastructure including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and VPC
- Respond to and resolve incidents within defined SLA targets; perform triage, diagnosis, and remediation
- Execute approved changes including provisioning, scaling, patching, and deployments
- Develop and maintain Terraform modules and IaC templates for GCP resources
- Configure and optimize monitoring, alerting, and dashboards using GCP Operations Suite and Datadog
- Perform cloud cost optimization analysis and implement recommendations (committed use discounts, rightsizing, scheduling)
- Maintain and update runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base articles
- Participate in shift handoff meetings and ensure clean knowledge transfer between regions
- Support CI/CD pipeline operations and deployment automation
Expectations - the experience you need
- 5+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience with 3+ years on Google Cloud Platform
- Strong knowledge of GCP core services: Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, VPC, IAM, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (GCP provider)
- Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting skills (GKE preferred)
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language: Python, Bash, or Go
- Solid understanding of networking: VPC design, firewall rules, load balancing, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS
- Experience with monitoring tools: GCP Operations Suite (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging), Datadog, or Prometheus/Grafana
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools: Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
- Understanding of GCP IAM, security best practices, and organizational policies
Additional skills - the edge you have
- GCP Professional Cloud Engineer or GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification
- Experience with BigQuery data engineering or Cloud Dataflow
- Knowledge of Anthos for hybrid/multi-cloud scenarios
- Experience with GCP billing APIs and cost management tools
- ITIL Foundation certification
